This conceptual consumer printer design uses a small 2.8-watt laser diode to etch paper. This print technique addresses many of the issues associated with conventional printing methods. With Etch, no consumable inks or cartridges are required. Plain paper without embedded inks or surface coatings can be used. Finally, de-inking is eliminated from the paper recycling process, reducing energy consumption and waste by-products.
